Methodology

How results are found and what each label means: discover, inspect a source-pinned passage, compare observations, save research.

The four steps

  1. Discover. Search the covered collection for spoken passages matching scoped criteria.
  2. Inspect a source-pinned passage. Open the exact source, interval, nearby context, and provenance โ€” not a summary of the market.
  3. Compare observations. Place two pinned passages side by side with their dates. Different wording is an observation, not proof of replacement.
  4. Save research. Keep excerpts, queries, and bookmarks as durable records with their captured revisions.

Ads and brand names

Ads are found in full-coverage episodes. Brand names we are sure about are shown; others show as “Brand under review” until a person on the review team confirms them, and they don’t count toward any brand until then.

The brand heard and the web address

These are two separate facts. When they disagree we show both and don’t pick one.

Kept separate

  • We keep four things separate: the brand we heard, any web address or code, whether it is an ad, and whether it met your brief.
  • Product-assisted judgments are working notes, not independent accuracy labels.
  • A source digest compares bytes; it is not a legal or authenticity seal.

Uncertainty stays visible

Where audio, timing or requirements are missing, we say so. A matching passage is an observation from the covered collection โ€” see Coverage.

Corrections

Members can report a problem on any ad. Only the review team changes what is shown; a frozen report never changes.
